So I went to a 6pm screening. It was in 2D. And it was in IMAX. And it was NOT digital. It was 70mm old school film stock.*

Kinja'd!!!

It was beautiful. It was intense. It was better than expected. And now I go to bed very satisfied. I hope you have a similar experience with this film or the next one you decide to see.

3.5 out of 4 stars.

...one last thing: as I was leaving the theater, I was stuck behind a Toyota Camry. Boring, yes, but it was 100% better with a Superman specialty plate from Ohio.

Goodnight, Oppo.

*aka IMAX 15/70 for us geeks...yeah, I geeked out a bit

It received horrible reviews everywhere. RT gave it like 32%. What did you like about it? I don’t want to waste $50 on two tickets and popcorn.

You always have to keep in mind with reviews

1. There’s a difference between a good movie and an enjoyable movie.

2. Everyone has their own tolerance for a “bad” movie.

I legitimately enjoyed Jupiter Ascending, although I will heartily agree that it was a god-awful trainwreck of a movie.

Ouch, Jupiter Ascending was so , so bad... I guess it did score better with viewers than critics.

It was terrible, but it was pretty and it had cool spaceships.

I personally have an extremely low threshold of enjoyment when spaceships are involved.

rt critics gave it 30%, but the audience gave it 74% at this point.

I can understand why some have their gripes about the way Zach Synder handles these films. There are influences from Christopher Nolan noticeable, and could use a little more. But I think part of the problem is that folks rather have Nolan’s vision instead of Synder’s and they can’t let go.

Too bad the film wasn’t longer because you can tell a lot was left on the editing room floor just like the theatrical version of Watchman. So you will fill in the blanks...until the extended “R” rated cut is released on Blu. The film is brutal.

If you hated Man of Steel (IMHO it was great), you’ll like it better thanks to Batman and Wonder Woman.

and yes, Supes gets his ass handed to him by the Bat.

as Roger Ebert would say “It’s not what a movie is about, it’s about how they go about it”.

also to your point, Norbit is a terrible, terrible movie, yet I can never pull myself away from it when it’s on.
